Both are bad trades for the Wild. The farm system is pretty barren: Tuch, JEE, Kunin are the only potential top-6 FWDs they have, even then they are most likely 2nd line ceilings.

JRV is good, but not great and LW isn't really what Wild need. He'd be a steal at the cap hit, but Wild can't afford the loss of their top FWD prospect a 1st, and a 3rd.

Purcell on 4th line minutes without PP time doesn't sound like a good combo. Stewie is better suited to that, and plays a more physical game.

JVR and Purcell are enough to put Minni DEEP into the playoffs? Sounds like you're comparing them to Kane and Toews

JVR is very good, and going deep into the playoffs doesn't mean you have to have all 'all-stars'. By getting both it provides them with good depth which is what a team needs to win.

Also, what exactly go the Wild need then? They are deep centre wise, good RW depth, one of the best defensive cores in the league, Dubnyk is good but probs need an upgrade there, and at LW is only Parise and an 'ok' second/ 'good' third liner in Zucker.

Your roster is only 20 players with less than half a million left in cap room. Sure the Wild might have "depth" but it not necessarily good depth. They seem to be on the equal of about another six Western Conference teams fighting for 3 play off spots. One of the Wilds' problems is they have a number of overpaid players which doesn't allow them to fill with lineup with other players due to cap space.

Well, I mean Pominville is overpaid and the Wild would do well with getting rid of his contract. So yeah minus him you could add two or three fast players.

Granlund is our 2LW, Nino is our 3LW. Center depth is weak Haula/JEE as 3/4C's, no real clue what we have with Staal. A top 6 wing (either side) would be nice but the need is at top end center. If they go for a Wing it should be young and club controllable type. RHS FWDs the Wild are lacking, Coyle, Pommer, and Stewie are it for NHL players.

Zucker is meh, probably bounces all around the lineup this year trying to find something that clicks, but is young and cheap(ish). He probably needs a change of scenery to excel.

Yea true but Nino would be better off suited at 2RW for his development. I think Koivu is a very underrated top line C.

Nino's played better as a LW the last few years, and he was the 1LW at the end of the last season. Wild's bottom 3 lines are pretty much fluid right now, not much is written in pen for them.

Koivu is bottom end 1C, he has a solid 2-way game, but doesn't have the speed so he cheats back in the ozone. 20 min a night and only 34 even strength points, isn't a quality 1C. He was a perfect fit for Yoe's defensive system, but not as good of a fit for BB's heavier board play more offensive system. If the Koivu of the Playoffs last year would show up every night then I'd say he was a good 1C, but that player doesn't show up very often.

I wouldn't trade Tuch for JVR straight up, much less add in a 1st. In 2 years, Tuch will be a better player than JVR...mark my words.
