We trade Donato as part of a Malkin deal, and then immediately pay a 2nd to get him back?

yes by doing this we gain more picks and imo our team is better weird ik dont judge

You know you could have just included the '22 2nd in place of Donato in the original deal and it would have had the same outcome?

well donato only gets traded back if the oilers accept (cuz we get yamamoto)
