Description
I don’t actually think TB trades Point, he’s to valuable. That being said, they are in Cap hell and its rumoured that a big name that is unexpected could be moving. TB has given out NMC/NTC like Pez Candies and players are going to have to waive to move. Point can be moved easily so I chose him and why not its good for Calagry. Value is likely under what TB fans want but they also dump Palat’s contract which has been rumoured TB management wants to do. I don’t think this deal happens but one can dream. I did try to provide what I thought was fair value, but open to suggestions.

van Riemsdyk is a RHD that fits the budget. It would be a dman in that range. Was looking at Bogosian and Shattenkirk but I think both get raises next year outside Calgary.

Markstrom I gave a 6th year to bring down the AAV. it would be front loaded with a NTC is some form to which Van does not want to do for fear of losing Demko to the Seattle expansion and protecting Markstrom. Calgary will upgrade their Goalie position in some way but FA’s make the most sense.

No. Point isn't being traded. Tampa can trade some combination of Killorn, Johnson, Gourde or Palat. The NTC's are tricky but not impossible to navigate. Cirelli and Cernak likely sign bridge deals. Sergachev gets paid. Coburn gets torpedoed. Shattenkirk is likely gone too.

Point is the future captain after Stamkos and Hedman.

We will trade every RFA we have before Point.

No chance Point is traded while he's making <$7 million.

Killorn only has a M-NTC so he's likely 1 prime candidate. Then there's a slew of full NTC candidates - Take note Detroit - that will likely all be asked about their willingness to waive their clauses. There's obviously certain players the team would like to trade, but who, if any, makes the selfless choice is anyone's guess.

Cirelli I think will be the main cap casualty before all is said and done this offseason.

I expect Yzerman and Brisebois to make at least 1 trade.

I'm sure that phone line has been active since the season ended. Yzerman swooped in to get Erne to Detroit already, and I am sure he'd love an experienced cup winner to guide his young group. I'm not sure who'd waive to go to Detroit though.

Something like Evgeny Svechnikov for Tyler Johnson is what I was thinking.

Johnson is obviously who Tampa would want to move most, but what Johnson wants at this point is unclear. He has the cup ring now, but why leave Tampa when they could still win again in the next few years? However, his role on the team has seriously diminished since he was tearing it up in the '15 playoffs. It was speculated he would be scratched or be moved to the 4th line if Stamkos was able to return healthy during the playoffs. That situation does not change all too much next year even with departures after Stephens, Volkov, and Verhaeghe looked like NHL caliber players in the playoffs.

I think he'd like a consistent Top 6 forward role again, but the question again is would he waive for Detroit who has no immediate playoff prospects. Yzerman may be the only one able to convince him if there is indeed interest.

Point is a great player yes. Johnny is easily in the top 20 one year removed from 99 points. Has Point had 99 points yet? So again stay on planet Earth. Point .89 PPG stats, career points 40/66/92/64. Johnny .96 PPG outside his burnt ELC year career points 64/78/61/84/99/58. So actually one can make an argument that Johnny is a superior player to Point based off the numbers. Imagine what Johnny could do if he had the supporting players around him Point does.

Point has much better analytics than Johnny and point carry’s Tampa and I can literally name 20 players better than Johnny

Lots of space. Start typing. What are the parameters? Salary, points, age, etc. Establish those then go hard little buddy.

Some good names. I think seeing as I am not backing down you refuse to add Johnny thats fine. I still feel he’s top 20. His production backs that up. Not to mention if Johnny was on the Tampa team you’d have him top 20. Is Point the same quality player not on Tampa? Ask Lowe about Penner.

Points isolated stats say he is top 4 offensively and top 20 defensively and those are based off individual performance and it is irrelevant to line mates playing time and matchups
