Why in the world would rangers pay $2 for 7 years of no Krieder, he's still a really good player?

Maybe you didn't read but I said up to a max, nothing is set in stone. Go back and read, then make that a common practice for yourself

We have the 1OA which is Laf and Bread on the LW. This is just an idea so put your knickers back on. It's a trade that is a contract dump both ways. And we have the cap space to eat the Dallas players even if we dont dump them again.. leave them on the 4th line for the year.

I read it. They would never retain salary for 7 years for even a bad player, especially getting nothing in return. You are treating Krieder like he's on Searbrook level.

How do you figure Ottawa saves money by acquiring Smith? M NTC Smith can probably block any team to a poor team with cap anyways.

So don't give an unintelligible response, say what you think would need to be added.

We can keep him or buyout anyway so not a big deal.. If you can't calculate it for yourself then here you go
Gab sal + Roster sal -------------- smith sal ----- savings
    3,075,000 + 700,000 = 3,775,000 - 3,350,000= $425,000

A Krieder trade would most likely be a 1st, middle 6 forward, and a B prospect similar to the Rick Nash trade to bruins. But Krieder isn't going anywhere, he is the last player from the '14 cup run and just signed his deal, and is no way he is a simple cap dump. Lafrenire hasn't even played a minute yet, but if he turns into what he is supposed to be, Krieder moves to the right and is a key leader for the team moving forward.

Again, the OTT deal doesn't change anything for us. Keeping DAL boys for the 4th/scratches also doesn't change anything

this is a good portrait but it would clearly not happen bc it truly not logical for Jeff and the rest of the management to do

I don't disagree that he will be a ranger.. This is simply an idea if we needed to move cap space. I have 0 issue with Kreids and this his price is right but maybe 5 years instead

Why sould buffalo take two caps dumps for draft picks that are almost guaranteed to never play in the NHL? Makes no sense at all.

2 4th line vets at 1M and 1.5M who just went to the cup. plus 2 picks that yes aren't promising. Those prices arent bad in my eyes. If you read above its not a trade that matters to us and I said they couold be moved anywhere. I use BUF as the destination for one reason only... you have 5 players showing up to training camp today...

True you can't sign players just as good as these two stars ar half the cost.

Thing is I'm sure both get bought out if they can't cut an NHL roster.. Cost is minimal

Gaborik is on LTIR. All or most of his salary is covered by insurance. So if you can't calculate it for yourself then here you go. 4.350m Smith salary minus Ottawa's payment to Gaborik Zero dollars....means Ottawa would be paying 4.35 for Smith

You know what their insurance policy is? 100% covered and at 0 cost? Also you must realize there is a difference between a salary and a cap hit

I certainly know the difference between salary and cap hit. But in your original statement you said Ottawa would save money $$$$ by trading Gaborik for Smith, which $ 4m not true./
Your actual quote was "OTT saves $ and gets pick". Wow, you can't even admit the the fallacy of your original statement.
