Bolts will definitely get a better offer for cirelli, but this is close to an ideal lineup for NYR

6 years remaining with full no trade clause. No contending team he would accept a trade to can take his cap hit

But with Hedman and McD already entreched on the left side long term Sergy dosen't really fit in a flat cap world

Forward lines make a lot of sense, however the LD really couldn't be much worse. They will have to do something there.

Not Cirelli
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>So don't give an unintelligible response, say what you think would need to be added.</div></div>
A Krieder trade would most likely be a 1st, middle 6 forward, and a B prospect similar to the Rick Nash trade to bruins. But Krieder isn't going anywhere, he is the last player from the '14 cup run and just signed his deal, and is no way he is a simple cap dump. Lafrenire hasn't even played a minute yet, but if he turns into what he is supposed to be, Krieder moves to the right and is a key leader for the team moving forward.

I read it. They would never retain salary for 7 years for even a bad player, especially getting nothing in return. You are treating Krieder like he's on Searbrook level.

Why in the world would rangers pay $2 for 7 years of no Krieder, he's still a really good player?

Rangers would take this deal. I think there's a good chance he signs with the Caps when they buy him out anyway.

I'd assume Buch would be traded following this season and Kakko would fill his role. You could potentially get Kreider to waive for the right situation...etc.
Hopefully by the time Zib and Fox need to get paid the flat cap is gone and the revenue from the new TV deal/Seattle bump it significantly</div></div>
Not when they already have panarin, kakko, lafren, and krieder as elite and high priced/potential wingers and set for top 6. From a team building perspective, centers and defense are more valuable.

When's the last time they haven't picked in the top 10? They are the definition of a dysfunctional franchise.

Getting ready for 2021-22
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sampollock</b></div><div>Fair point. The problem for NYR is that if they buy-out Lundqvist this year, it costs them $5.5M against the 2020-21 cap, leaving them roughly $9M to sign 5 RFAs. That's not nearly enough. There's no way they trade a first rounder to dump this contract, so this trade offers them some veteran value at forward and cap savings this year in return. That said, this deal probably wouldn't be their first choice.</div></div>
It costs them 5.5, but clears his 8.5M, so it is a net gain of 3M, to add to the 14.4M space they already have. It'll be close if they want to sign all 5 RFAs, but definitely close.

Lundqvist to Caps
A 29th ranked power play would love to add Deangelo to qb it. Plus he can take a top four role until those two prove they can handle a top role for an extended period of time.

Lundqvist to Caps
It has been nationally and internationally reported that they are likey to buyout lundqvist due to being 3rd in the pecking order. To get assest and less dead cap this year and next year makes much more sense. Buchnevich is very inconsistent and has never performed well without Mika as his linemate. Danult fits the rangers need for a defensive center and depth down the middle, while prospects time more time to develop. Deangelo is a luxury as the clear 3rd best RD with lundqvist in the waiting, and his value may never be higher while he played a sheltered role this year. Lastly, the rangers need a top pair LD.
