If there was a year for a legitimate offer sheet it is this year (and next year) .. why on earth wouldn't a team offer say $7M for Sergachev .. Tampa can't match that.. unless they get rid of Gourde but I digress .. if I Tampa I start thinking of trade offers better than the 1st,2nd,3rd they would get for Serg .. at end of day Serg alone could restock the THREE #1S lost for Colemen and Goodrow

But why would a team do that? Why give up more assets when you know you can get him for less via offer sheet? It might make sense for rebuilding teams to go the trade route instead to avoid giving up an unprotected 1st next year, but those teams are even less likely to give up additional 1sts to get him

Why would Edmonton trade two firsts for him when as you point out they can sign him and give up less?

I believe there could be bidding war offer sheet wise for Sergachev .. and trades can also involve players and different years..

If he were offersheeted at 1x$6M would Tampa be able to match that? The compensation would only be a 1st and a 3rd.

So from an Edmonton perspective in a trade, the absolute most I can see them offering is a 2021 1st and a 2022 2nd
