My Ideal 2020-2021 MN Wild UPDATED

Created by: KoeberBrick
Team: 2020-21 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 5, 2020
Published: Oct. 5, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
VGK Trade:
- MN has had reported interest in Fluery
- VGK want a RD and are looking at Pietrangelo, I don't think that they will be able to get the cap space because most of their high salary players have NMC or NTC. A cheaper cost controlled option is Dumba.
- Stalock goes the the other way on a league minimum contract. He's a good backup goaltender

LA Trade:
- I have read from LA fans that they are in need of wingers. Hartman adds a lot of grit and agitation, he can also chip in a modest amount for a borderline 3rd/4th liner

Notes:
- I think that MN will only trade Stalock if it makes sense.
- While there's a lot of risk with trading a proven player in Dumba for a young and relatively unproven Glass, I think he will be that top 6 center they need. I'm thinking similar to the Fiala and Granlund swap.
- With the retooling that's been done so far I think that MN will still try to sign a depth forward and/or defenseman
- As always this is purely based on my opinion.

**Let me know what you think!

A Vegas trade like this just makes way too much sense. I think the Wild could get more, it took a 1st round pick for the Leafs to move Marleau signed for 1 year and a bit over $6M, well Fleury is at 2 years with $7M and the cap is flat for the next 3 years... I could honestly see a first plus Krebs/Glass in a trade like this.

This is delusional.

It makes sense...for the Wild only.

As of now they definitely are the most likely partner for a Dumba trade. They have what MN wants and MN has what VGK want, definitely think that Dumba is getting traded sooner rather than later though. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Like I said, Marleau cost the Leafs a first to get rid of and Fleury has a far worse contract. I'm not necessarily saying Vegas should do it, but if they are desperate to offload Fleury like the Leafs were then the price would be a first, potentially more and only get like a late pick/Stalock in return. To get Dumba you'll have to add a lot more to that.

I think an important note is the NTC that comes with Flower. If he doesn't want to be exposed then that could block VGK from protecting Lehner, right now a NTC or NMC negatively impacts trade value.

NTC doesn't make him expansion protected, only a NMC does. But you're right, his NTC makes him hard to move and Russo has reported that there's a lot of mutual respect between Fleury and Guerin. Vegas needs cap somehow, trading Fleury is probably the easiest way to get more space.

Kings need top six wingers. They have more bottom six guys than they know what to do with.

If you'd like to trade Kunin, the Kings might be interested. Aside from that, there's nothing that Minnesota has that LA would want.

Vegas is interested in Petro not just any RHD. Petro doesn’t cost any assets to acquire. A captain and a Stanley cup champ. I like Dumba but it’s not the same

I agree. Dumba is much more of a risk/reward defenseman and is a very different player than Petro. I'm not positive they can get him with the current cap situation without moving Flower. I could see VGK calling MN if they aren't able to get Petro but who really knows with how this year is going. When looking at other teams I just saw that VGK seemed to have a lot of LD and MN is looking to move a RD and acquire a new goaltender, so I think there's a fit. Id love if Flower could be a mentor to Kappo.

See you get it. Like I said Dumba is a good player, but that’s not why vegas is so much interested in Petro. It’s all the things he does.
