Sekera, Russel, Lucic, Kassian, Letestu, Maroon, pouliot, Hendicks all have significant experience. RNH and Larsson are now 23, Eberle is 26.

Talbot and monster are vets. Both been through it all.

This team, if anything, is growing out of it's young roster and into a vet team. Not many ELC's. Closing in on league average age.

leafs1967 is right. Seems like when a team not playing well it's: Too many youngsters or too many old guys. The two games last night in Edmonton and Ottawa...kinda like 1980s hockey.

Agree with the guys above. Plus Nurse has added benefits with the expansion draft since he doesn't need to be protected.

Plus who cares about Versteeg.. Oilers have some prospects that look like they maybe able to step up into those roles this year like Slepyshev and Pitlick

Monster is a below replacement level back up and Slepy, Drake, Pitlick and JP have 4 career points among them, where as Parenteau and Versteeg have AVERAGED a little over 40 points/82 games over the last three years . Russell is more a #5 than a #4, so they are one injury away from a defence as bad as it was last year.

If this team wants to win, it needs to stop gambling on so many roles and take more sure things. Force JP to beat one of Versteeg or Parenteau out of a job, don't hand it to him. Make the kids dominate at the AHL level before giving them NHL jobs.

If they don't they will continue to be a loser franchise.
