I think the rumor is we are eating half for a first and a 2nd, and then passing him on to a third team. Big pass on that.

Not even close on MAF, Noway in hell is Vegas eating $3,500,000 on Fleury plus surrendering a 1st+2nd round pick. Basically it would be a 3 way say Detroit is the 2nd team involved. They get a 2nd+Krebs/Glass and then retain $3,500,000 and flip MAF to a 3rd team perhaps Carolina or Minnesota for a 2021 1st+2022 2nd round pick. But Vegas isn't going to retain half on MAF and surrender a 1st+2nd round pick on top of it that's simply ludicrous.

It doesn't make a lot of sense. If MAF at $3.5M requires a 1st + a 2nd to move, how on earth does Mrazek at $3.125M get an asset back?! It doesn't compute.

Mrazek is on an expiring deal and has good stats. Fleury does not, and makes 7 mil for 2 years with a flat cap. Mrazek is a fine goaltender. Fleury at this stage is not. This is just a rumour btw, don't shoot the messenger

Fair enough, but the facts don't jive. You characterize Mrazek as having "good stats" and Fleury as "not", and yet...

Mrazek: 2.69 GAA, .905 sv%, 21-16-2 record with 3 shutouts (.564 winning percentage on a team that went .596 overall)
Fleury: 2.77 GAA, .905 sv%, 27-16-5 record with 5 shutouts (.615 winning percentage on a team that went .606 overall)

I'm surely not paying a 3rd for $3.125M Mrazek if I can get a $3.5M Fleury along with a 1st and a 2nd. It doesn't compute.

As a buyer, I don't care. I'm an Oilers fan... if Edmonton is presented with 2 trade options:

1. Mrazek for a 3rd
2. Fleury with 50% retained + 1st + 2nd for nothing

which do you think they would go with? Zero chance they go with option 1 IMO.

Fleury: xGSA -2.124. That means he costs his team 2 goals per 60 minutes.
Mrazek xGSA 2.451 That means Mrazek saves 2 goals for his team every 60 minutes.

That is where the difference is. Carolina D core was beaten to absolute sh*t and Mrazek still performed well. Fleury didn't despite Vegas being the strongest defensive team in hockey

Holland has already expressed interest in Mrazek, so it's likely option 2

Teams are asking for 33% retention plus a 1st and 2nd. 4.69 million for Fleury for two years at the 35 year old goalie cliff, enjoy that. Or you can get someone who had simliar numbers this season for 1.5 million less and if it doesnt work out, you can let him go. Fleury hits the 35 year old goalie cliff you are stuck with one expensive back up and potentially two years of 2 million cap hits to buy his last year out., Option 1 is looking better, isnt it?

This is why I don't trust xGSA stats, every site counts them differently. They can't all be correct.

No it isn't. From my perspective I'd much rather have Fleury at $3.5M than Mrazek at $3.125M. The picks are just gravy on top.
