Reshaping Panthers v40

Created by: hockey101
Team: 2020-21 Florida Panthers
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 8, 2020
Published: Oct. 8, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
A bit of a risk on the LW with Kahun, and depending who does better, but the 2nd line center will get shuffled between Turris and Wennberg.

The Saad trade frees up cap for Chicago, and in return they get an offensive forward.

Saad brings a solid 2-way game and scoring ability. Turris also brings a good two-way game, as does Eakin and Cousins.

This is what the Panthers need. A better 2-way game as a unit. It is a very cap-tight team, so unlikely that it will get to this, but I would consider the Panthers looking at Wennberg, Turris, and Saad strongly.

Hawks would likely pass on this, Saad is a better all around player obviously despite a lower cap hit for Vatrano; really doesn't move the needle.

Reports said that they're trying to move him. An upcoming UFA in 2021, he won't be re-signing. Obviously the Panthers can add a pick and a prospect, but the Hawks need to slash salary and getting a capable 20 goal scorer in return who is younger and cheaper works out.

"an upcoming UFA in 2021, he won't be re-signing" I'm glad you're his agent

Hawks are fine against the cap right now. Moving Maatta, Smith as of now remains on LITR and if activated likely gets buried to the AHL, and Crow is not re-singing. Hawks have a $11M+ to sign Kubalik and Strome which is more then enough.

Good luck getting a reliable starting goalie and having the cap space. If they are trying to unload Saad's salary, what do you think they'll do....re-sign him? Makes no sense.

Who do you think they can go for in terms of goalies? Plenty of options, but pricey too.

Why does re-signing him not make sense? For better or worse Stan's said publicly they're giving Delia and Lankinen the shot. NO UFA signings in net.

Why would he do that? Goaltending was not stable last season. It's quite a dire need, I would think....? Too risky. It would not make sense because if they are entertaining offers to trade him then why sign him?

From TheFourthPeriod:

Chicago entertained the thought of moving Saad during the season, and it’s possible he remains available this fall. He’s in the final-year of his contract, which comes with a $6 million cap hit, and the Blackhawks could benefit from added cap space.

TEAMS REPORTEDLY WITH INTEREST:
Colorado, Boston, Calgary

When you say goaltending wasn't stable. I'm not sure how to take that. The Hawks D was the worst D in the entire NHL. Their goaltending was AMAZING. For real it was amazing. No doubt Stan is listening. Its literally his job. Sadd has a $6M cap hit. He didn't deserve $6M. Thats why he went to CBJ. His next deal should be less.

Crawford did fairly well. Not all on him, but Delia is so-so and Lankinen is not proven. So, a troubling defense and a questionable goalie tandem? It's very very very risky. And at 27 years of age he will hit the market and get a big deal. No way he is getting less.

The Hawks GM already stated they are going with our young goalies Delia and Lankinen, so it is what it is. Do I like it? Of course not, but it is. So that means only $2M will be spent on goaltending.
