Eh, trade returns of players being traded for cap is minimal right now, may improve again.

you don't consider the actual dollar behind it. He will only make 2.5 in actual salary till the contract is up

Johnson is a top or middle six forward. He was injured but his PPG would have been third for wingers on LA last year.

I really don't the idea of Brodie if the Leafs have to pay over 4m with term. But the return on Johnsson might be just a 7th rounder if the Leafs are desperate for cap space and want no cap returned. Yea his playing value is higher but not his trade value in a cap strapped league.
IMO, DeMelo might have the best value for the Leafs, but Leafs might be looking at "bigger fish" during UFA..

DeMelo resigned in Winnipeg two days ago.

I think we should get better than a 5th. He has better value than Gudbranson. But yeah value for cap trades is minimal right now
