Wouldn't be the worst thing but statistically he came real close to Staal last season so we will see how it plays out. My expectations are very, very low for JJ but I would be glad if he shoved it up everyone's

Tampa has already baited someone to take Johnson (Tyler, not Jack LOL) by waiving him. For sure they will clear cap to save Cirelli from NYR’s thieving hands.

He's an absolute master at shoving guys in front after a goal. Shovesaftergoal/60 analytics, baby

Even with that freed up space from Tyler Johnson I find them hard pressed to keep Cirelli and Sergachev and even Cernak with a little under $8 million in cap space...somebody should/could make a move, I just hope it's us

Cernak will decide how own fate. He can make 2 million there or 4 million elsewhere. I don't see Cirelli and Sergachev leaving. Cup teams always protect their core.

The offer sheet idea is interesting but Gms wont do it because of some misplaced brotherhood code. Aho was an outlier.

I don't think Davidsson is that kind of guy to allow OS from the Rangers. He is old school.
Not to mention the current regime in Tampa didn't put them in this cap mess, this was created years ago.
I know somebody probably will try if they (Tampa) doesn't clear more cap quickly.

You're both probably right, I wish they could move on from this stigma of offer sheeting, it would make free agency so much more interesting

Interesting is not how the NHL works though. The definition of an old boys club and stuff like that doesn’t happen often.
