They're not signing any more defensemen. Toews was it, so that's a no to Hamonic

its gonna be interesting to see what happens as Seattle is for sure taking a Dman now (Towes, Girard, Makar if Johnsson waives) so Graves is probs gone

Is there a source on this or is it your opinion?

Roslovic and Jost swap could work but Colorado would need to add a bit.

Think they would protect Graves over Toews. Might even do Makar, Graves, Toews and send Girard over as long as EJ waives

Towes has much better defensive numbers than Graves. It would be a big mistake. Graves though plays more physical but Toews is not far behind. Heck maybe Sakic protects 4 dman

The luxury the Avs have is an abundance of assets, and this full upcoming season to shake out who they will want to protect. If Graves can show that he can fill Z's shoes as our physical blue-liner and continue to build on the success he had last year, he could be real hard to let go. We just gave up some decent assets for Toews and he has showed what he's capable of with the Islanders. Will be interesting to see what kind of contract Toews gets, and how they structure the lines. Will Graves be able to be nearly as effective if he isn't running with Cale and they put Toews up there? Does Toews take another leap if they pair him with Makar and put himself squarely in the elite conversation across the entire league?

Any way you look at it. we now have a lot of potential on the blueline and we should be in for a treat this season.

Sakic held a presser yesterday and said they want to see what they have in Timmins and Byram. Right now, their D looks like this:
Toews - Makar
Girard - EJ
Graves - Cole/Timmins/Byram

no thanks on Hamonic, COL is done tweaking their D.

Hamonic rejected returning to play bubble hockey with COVID around.. i doubt he returns in January if COVID is still a thing or bubble hockey is the plan
