Couple thoughts.

It cost NYR a 2nd to get rid of 1 yr of Staal. So 2 years of Boychuk plus NYI are in a more precarious situation will hurt more than you've proposed.

Ryan Murray got a 5th in a trade, and he's still a legit top 4 option. Leo like Boychuk has negative value, it'll take a 2nd or a 3rd to move him somewhere.

Pulock is 26, I have a really hard time seeing him take a 2 yr bridge deal (also not smart for NYI to let him become a UFA @ 28), and if he does take a 2 yr bridge I'm thinking it would be $4M min.

Also, wouldn't that 4 yr deal to Barzal walk him right to UFA @ 27 yo (that seems like a bad idea as well).

I think boychuk with cost NYI bellows + two 2nd rd picks.

Best deal for both sides is 6-6.25 mill x 5-6 years (pulock)

I think barzal gets 2-3 years or 6+

Yeah, agreed.

I'm sure they'd love to get Barzal on a long term deal, just not easy with everything that's happening in the league/world.

I know lou offered him 7.5 mill long term. Obviously barzal declined , that’s what hell get on a 2-3 year deal. It would probably take 9 mill to get him signed for 6+ years.

I don’t want barzal or pulock to take discounts because I want the cap crunch to force lou/trotz to play the kids. if it were up to them every prospect would stay in the AHL till theyre 25.
