Sabres would need to take back Derek Ryan also (which, to me, makes sense for the Sabres: Eichel, Staal, Eakin, Ryan is a certainly playoff calibre centre spine in my view).

This isn't a bad idea for the Flyers. Looking for a right-hand shot to replace Niskanen...ideally one that can play PK which I don't think Risto is known for his defensive prowess, but the idea is good. Two guys who could use a different situation to maybe re-ignite their game. The $$ doesn't work for Philly unless they find a way to flip out a JVR, or Myers signs for CHEAP, which I don't see happening

Why would Calgary do that? The trade doesn't work for us regardless, it's just easier to point out the cap doesn't work than have opposition fans whine about us crapping on the proposal as a whole.

But, we aren't going to downgrade our backup and give up a pick when we are likely playing a condensed schedule just to add a guy who would be our #3 RD, and we sure as hell won't just be giving away a reliable 3C just to make a bad trade work financially.
