Few finishing touches

Created by: Ghost789
Team: 2020-21 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 18, 2020
Published: Oct. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This would be a pretty speedy team overall. Even Marleau at his age is above average speed wise and always has that extra gear if he wants to go there. If they can stay healthy, Jones and Dubnyk can just be average... this is a 35-40 win lineup right here. With enough space for potentially adding in another piece down the road if needed. Hamonic signing is a low risk high reward.. for a guy who had as much upside as he did a few years back.. maybe he finds his game again or works harder in the D zone and uses his big body to be a shut down asset for the Sharks. I wouldn’t mind paying him @2M for 1 season to test it out.

Duclair gets much more, would be shocking if he didn't

In a normal year 1.5 would be an insult but with the frozen cap and his desire to play for a contender this is what multiple website have set as his expected contract for this year.
He doesn’t have many teams calling and he’s going to have to either not play or take a discount

This might happen with one of the two signings but not both. Right now would love it to be Hamonic rather than Duclair since I agree with jfrojelin that he demands more money.
Love me that team though!

Not a huge fan of Hamonic, but if he's that cheap, it probably wouldn't be bead to go after him. Same with Duclair. But with that being said, i also very much doubt they sign for that low.

That Labanc contract really ****ed us this year though. There's just not enough cap space to round out this roster well.

I just can’t see a guy like Duclair making more than 1.5-2M in a flat cap year.. especially someone who’s so offensive he’s a defensive liability. On the other hand , Hamonic has been on the decline the last 3-4 years but he’s still young enough at just turning 30 that he can hopefully turn it around and bet on himself. Sometimes guys just need a new look and some fresh teammates. With him I really don’t think he’ll be making more than 3M this upcoming season. A similar guy for reference as far as point production and play style is a Radko Gudas who just signed a 2.5M AAV this off season
