Byron is a good player with an elite speed and leadership asset. The salary is a bit to high but he still a NHL player and he can help team. I will love to keep Byron with Montreal because is versatility. I Don’t think Poehling and a 2n was reaslitic.

Obviously this trade is unfair, BUT it feels like a completely valid response to every Hab-Fan GM who has posted on this site suggesting Ottawa PAY a pick or prospect to take Byron's contract from them.
I'd be willing to bet Byron clears waivers. Doesn't mean he's not NHL calibre, it's just that there are cheaper and better options available on the UFA market that could be signed to shorter term.

You could be right about him clearing waivers. But I don’t think mtl puts him on waivers let alone accepts a deal to pay a 2nd and one of their top prospects to take him.
Byrons contract is too high but he has lots of value in mtl.
