That ain't it chief. I can't see a situation coming where FLA takes more cap than they move, because one important reason why they'd move Barkov is financial.

You gotta replace Strome, DeAngelo and one of those firsts with either Kakko or Lafreniere. Otherwise FLA isn't going to bite.

That's a bigger package than Wayne Gretzky got. I can sub Strome and DeAngelo for cost controlled/prospects if needed but that's crazy to ADD one of them.

Gretzky trade isn't comparable since there were actual cash involved, something that isn't happening nowadays.

And seriously, franchise level centers are never moved because it's near impossible to gain one without drafting them yourself.

FLA would be insane to let Barkov go without an insane return. And I daresay that Kakko or Lafreniere is the starting point of the negotiations.

But isn't that offsetting? Why would we do that? I don't see anyone doing that and if they don't wouldn't they take the best offer? I think we can beat any team with our pool.

Do you think any team other than the Rangers would give up a "Kakko" for Barkov? Who has the assets to acquire him? Extend his contract?

Certainly if they want to land the guy.

There's a reason why franchise centers are pretty much never on the market.

To get yourselves the best C that has played for the rags in ages? It's not likely you'll end up having the short end of the stick in a sense...history shows that it's almost always the team moving that franchise level player that end up losing big time.

I just don't see it coming down to that but If it does, we'll have to stand down.

I guess you're right. I'd do it. I love Kakko but it's necessary.

Look at the end of the day as much as I’d love barkov it’d likely mean the end of zibby bc we have so many huge contracts coming up that we’ll need to be paid that year so even if the cap goes up to 88 mil by then it’ll be hard to keep everyone

I just did a random mock up of what it would look like trying to keep zibby on a 4 year 8.75 mil deal and barkov at 10 for 7 with guess for a lot of other contracts and we were tight up against the cap with it being at 88.5 yes it was a mock and idk what contracts would look like and I handed out a lot of long term contracts to kakko, fox, sheshty but we don’t have much left and unless you can some how move both trouba and kreids it’ll be tough for the upcoming years. That being said... the team was STACKEDDDD

Panarin- barkov- kakko
Laf- Zib- kravtsov
Kreids - Henrikkson- goat
Lemieux- Barron- pujuniemi

(Last two lines are subject to change especially if kreids got moved it would be more like
goat- Henrikkson- puj
Cuyle- Barron- lemieux

Defense was
Miller- trouba
Lindgren- fox
Robertson- nils

(If trouba got traded)
Miller- fox
Lindgren- nils
Robertson/ Jones- Schneider

I'm gonna make one tomorrow. I wanna see if we can make it work lol

I’d say that you added very solid pieces but i think the trade would have to include Kakko, Laf, or Fox because of how young Barkov is. Ultimately, I’d think that the Rangers would be better off not making this trade

laugh laugh First off that's nowhere near enough for Aleksander Barkov, Any deal for Barkov starts with Kakko and then some. And good luck giving Barkov close to $10 million per season when you'll need to sign Fox, Kakko and Lafreniere to big money down the road. Florida will give you Stralman and Yandle for Lafreniere instead.

Wouldn't be an issue paying him if you insist one of those players are in the trade.

Barkov's value is pretty much the same as Jack Eichels value. So you're probably looking at both Kakko and Fox right there and no way Gorton makes that offer.

Agreed. I can't imagine any team offering a package of that stature and proceeding to pay $10M+
