continuing for a cup

Created by: KingsLover
Team: 2021-22 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 27, 2020
Published: Oct. 27, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- I think this team has real championship potential for 2021-2022. This is obviously while I'm assuming that Rask retires in 2021, as there have been many reports that 2021 while be his last year. If thats the case then I think Freddy is a good goalie to replace him, he gets more flack than he deserves, but Imo he's good enough to be able to be the goaltender on a Stanley cup winner and I don't think the Leafs bring him back after this year.
- After this season the team will have just over 29 million without inflation of the cap, with their offseason consisting of FA's Bergeron (UFA), McCoy (RFA), DeBrusk (RFA), Studnicka (RFA), Vaakanainen (RFA), and Lauzon (RFA). 15 million of that more than likely goes to McAvoy (probably 8 years), and Bergeron (2 years). If the team wins the Cup in 2022, I could see DeBrusk being shipped out for assets like a pick and solid scoring forward on a low cap hit.

Trades
1.
BOS
  1. Keith, Duncan ($750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Keith is still a damn solid top pair d-man, and I think at least equals the level that Chara's been for the last 3 years for Boston. Pairing him with McAvoy could give Boston and their team the top 4 for the championship.
CHI
  1. Moore, John
  2. 2022 1st round pick (BOS)
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
*3rd turns to a 2nd if BOS wins 2022 Stanley Cup.
The Hawks take on Moore's deal, who's pretty much an overpaid number 6/7 plus two solid picks for an aging yet effective Keith.
2.
BOS
  1. 2022 4th round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
*turns to 3rd if Ritchie scores 15+ goals in 2022.
EDM
  1. Ritchie, Nick [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Ritchie is a solid bottom 6 forward, yes a bit agro, but he's a hard hitter and can score over 10+ goals when healthy and in the lineup.
3.
BOS
PHI
  1. Clifton, Connor
Additional Details:
SEA takes Clifton in the expansion draft, I believe he's a very solid 3rd pair d-man, on the B's tho he's expendable with Urho and Lauzon on the rise.

I’m not arguing with the value but Keith is a hawk for life most likely and I’d rather have him retire with us

With Tampa having so many cap problems, IMO Bruins are front runners to win the Atlantic this season.

What if he wants to chase a cup?

If he asks for a trade that’s one thing but I don’t see him as the type to request a trade. He’s been in Chicago his entire career and created a hall of fame career filled with success

For sure. I really didn’t expect Brady to leave the pats either.

I think Brady left because even though he’s the best football player of all time (or pretty close, not trying to debate that), people began questioning whether he could do it without Bellichek. Also a quarterback is in the spotlight more because of the nature of the sport. I mean, maybe Keith will leave but I don’t think he would do it to prove himself (whether it’s warranted or not) like I feel Brady did.

Well Marchand and Pastrnak both are gonna miss the first couple of weeks and that could definitely hamper their record. Plus the defence as it is right now has its issues.

He could very well reject ever being traded from CHI, but after the 2021 season I could definitely see the Hawks shipping off Kane, Toews and Keith for assets to help them properly rebuild.
