I'm curious to see other King's fans reactions to this. My gut reaction is to say no because Cal is going to be the starter as soon as midway through this year for the Kings. But I think it's a starting point for a conversation.

With where their prospects are at, I'd bet the Kings are looking for a goalie who's a little closer to making the jump to the NHL, not someone who's starting college just this year. If you want a borderline 1A/1B goalie, in return you're looking at giving up the potential of Ukko-Pekka. The Kings also wouldn't be interested in pushing out a pick 3 years down the road. It would need to change to a 2021 pick.

Interesting Devils trade...I think they accept

Honestly on the block about the Devils trade. Butcher for Risto makes no sense to me. Analytically, Ristolainen is bad and is a mid4 defenceman, Butcher is trending up and may be stuck as a mid pair guy but I don't see him as aworse player or the same as Risto.

Mittlestadt for Wood is interesting, gives the Devils another young center, which inevitably will have to be moved or settle into a 3C role in exchange for a winger who goes into the corners, applies pressure and can add depth scoring here and there.
