From cap hell to back to back Cup champions

Description
Big RFA contracts are based on The Athletic projection (Sergachev, Cirelli, Cernak). Vatanen and Joseph contracts are based on Evolve Hockey projection of 1 year contracts. Kovalchuk is rumored to sign a minimum deal of 700k, and that was his last contract as well. Miller I also see signing a close to a minimum deal.

As for the trades, Johnson and 1st could go anywhere for future considerations, just have DET here because they have space and because of Stevie Y. Coburn and McElhinney also could go anywhere for basically no return.

Killorn and Paquette to NSH I can see happening now because they have space and also because Richards is now there on the bench. If not Killorn, then I could see Gourde traded there as well and he would fit well in NSH I think, and it would also add more cap space. Then ABB could possibly take his place as 3C.

And I know there have been no rumors about Vatanen, Miller and Kovalchuk signing with Tampa, but I could see them grabbing a few veterans players like Kovalchuk and Miller. Seemed to work for Dallas last season and Toronto is doing something similar as well. There is a chance that Kovalchuk might not be a fit in Tampa, but I think he is worth the shot at that price, even though he pretty much fell flat in the last playoffs. And Tampa could always add players at the deadline. And I'm sure they will at least add some size to D, just like last season.

And I know this not below the cap, but with little tweaks it could work.

I don't think Killorn gets a 2nd - I just don't think they'll get fair value in any deals other than maybe Cirelli/Sergachev if they go that route. And NSH is trying to keep room open for their rookies, so not sure NSH is even looking to add anymore, let alone two players. And NSH wouldn't want to take on Gourde's cap

Agreed. It's going to be a very late 1st and that's a LOT of years left. One scenario I've played around with, is Filppula (with salary retained) to Tampa for Tyler Johnson, a 1st and a 3rd.

Tbh only a 2nd for Killorn is already very low value in itself.

I'd still want more. Like first and big prospect, foote or boulie

I just feel that the longer it goes on, the worse the deals are going to be for TBL
