Sometimes the most obvious answers are the right ones

Not saying yer wrong, just curious. Why do you think Lafreniere will win the Calder over Kaprizov? Kaprizov is 5 years older & will get to play with Fiala & Rossi on the top line whereas Lafreniere will likely be on the third line with Howden.

Laf is so much better than Kaprizov and Rossi wont even make it. Laf will slide up to the first line by the end of the year. Kreider 3rd line

I think there is also the russian factor here.
They can be flakey when they come over. Some explode some bomb.

Yeah in terms of ceiling, I definitely think Lafreniere is higher. But Kaprizov is much more experienced, we could see a similar Calder situation compared to McDavid vs Panarin in 2015.

I don't think he'll play with either of them. Rossi shouldn't be anywhere near the NHL this year. I'm also guessing MN is going to try and run 3 similar quality lines and not stack any one line. Just look at their centers: a bunch of middle-6 guys, but nothing that is close to a 1C.

I think it'll hurt Kaprizov in the Calder voting because of how oddly the team is built.

Obviously Laf is an obvious answer, but its just been kinda rare to see first overall picks win it. Ekblad did, If McDavid didnt get hurt he wouldve, and Matthews won it. I can see Kaprizov, and fellow Ranger Shesterkin (if hes still eligible, cant remember) also in the mix! Laf was a man among boys in the Q, but you never know how these guys translate until they get there. Everyone thought Kakko would be an immediate impact, and its obvious he has some work to do still. The rest is pretty safe (which isnt bad) other than Hart for Vezina, which i dont think is crazy if he takes another step. I think a couple guys would be ahead of Hamilton for Norris, but he was heavily int he mix up until he got hurt so i see it!
