Do people know Theodore is a 1D and Marchessault and Karlsson are all top notch players and all 3 are signed for so cheap? 2 1st line guys and a 1st pairing guy combined make 25% more than Matthews makes

Best d in all the west are Petro and Shae Period. Some people dont watch Vegas much. That is 3 terrific players.

And I’m a big Theodore fan!! I know he’s a top 3-5 D in the NHL!! And it’s not knocking William Karlsson and J.Marchssault either.its just none of them are A.Matthews!!

But I’ll take A.Matthews and the 4.5M cap space and sign 2 players at 2.25M each have a better team with Matthews and my 2 free agent signings. Or One for 3M and one for 1.5M plus Matthews.

Same here. I have Shea, Chabot and Werenski in the same tier. But Theodore has the best deal of them all

This is the closest deal Matthews deal I have seen so far and it has a lot of controversy. From Toronto’s point of view... it’s a tough decision.
On one hand, you’re losing a generational sniper in Matthews as well as the better goalie.
But on the other hand, you’re team is better. minus the goaltending....

You’d be crazy to say you wouldn’t enjoy watching that top 6 and top 4. they would be insanely good.

From VGK point of view. I don’t think there is even a chance here. Matthews and Stone would be a pretty good duo up front but losing two top 6 guys, and a legit 1D.... even for Auston Matthews. I don’t think that’d happen. what would their lines even look like after that? like their goaltending would better, but then you’d have to very capable starters splitting games. Their d, no doubt would be worse. and as good as Auston Matthews is and will be, he can’t make up for the absence of two players of their caliber.
Maybe lines like this?

Tuch-Kerfoot-Smith? only until Glass proves he’s ready.
