Doubt if CBJ would want to give any assets, even to get a two year then UFA Tavares.

This would be under the presumption that Tavares would resign with Columbus. But I would certainly be willing to give up assets to get him. It would put the Jackets in win now mode, and they would be contenders for years with Tavares/Wennberg/Jones/Murray/Werenski/Saad as the core.

That is the the most ridiculous presumption....ever. One player, even Tavaras isn't going to bring the Jets to the promise land. Has he done it on the Island?

Tavares has single handedly brought the Islanders to playoffs, you take him off and I would think they sink to the bottom of the conference. You put him on the Blue Jackets and I would easily imagine them in the playoffs given their current roster

LeafsFan. I'm sure in Tavares situation he isn't just willing to make the playoffs. No, he's going to explore his UFA options. I know it's too to know but can the CBJ handle Its 9m contract in two years while still having a good base of players around him. Tavaras at 9m, the CBJ have 52m for 8 players in 2018.

It's too easy for the Isles to make this move then have him come back in free agency in a year and a half. The Isles rebuild this season, retool next season, then can you imagine if they add Tavares into the mix in 18-19? Yeah that's a cup winning roster right there. Stupid move for the jackets
