Burns is worth more than any D TO has outside of Reilly. Certainly worth more than Thornton and Spezza and basically your entire bottom six.

There's about 9 leafs defenceman worth more than Burns. His contract makes him be worth nothing (8 million till he's 41? No thanks). Be happy he has 0 value as opposed to Karlsson and Vlasic, which have negative value.

Burns value in a trade is negative. You only need to look as far as Schmidt who is younger and makes less to see this.

Burns the player is a great guy. But hockey teams don’t deal in human trafficking, they trade contracts. For that reason burns carries less value than all leafs Dmen. To the point where I don’t think a team would take him unretained for any price.
