IMO resigning Lowry is a mistake. There are players who could do what he does for less money. Also Perfetti should play C right away

Probably not, Vesalainen looks like a bust and Niku is on the outside looking in this season, he's probably the #8 dman on the depth chart and that's not counting Heinola and Samberg, really Niku is probably #10, honestly unless there's a big injury early on he's probably headed for the AHL, it's just a question of if someone claims him or not.

Would love to see Laine signed to that deal but it sounds like he's unfortunately going to be traded, it's not a matter of if it's a matter of when.

Vesa is unclear but i would like to see it. He had a rough transition. Niku won't, he was statistically worth -11M or something. Yeah, he was that bad

Niku was worth -11M, what does that mean?

It means he was absolutely horrible statistically. Typically players have a market value based on their stats. For the most part they are positive. Niku was not

Just curious as to how it's calculated?

I mean its the offseason, the media needs something to talk about so put the Laine rumours out there.

I'd like to think that's all it is but from listening to the insiders it sure does sound like Laine is as good as gone, I think they trade him next offseason, Seravalli made it sound like the Jets management have already made up their mind and are just waiting for the right offer to come along.

Think about it, Laine, Pionk, Copp and Lowry need new deals and they just hired Lowry's father, who's the odd man out to give the raises to those guys?
Well only in Winnipeg would it make sense to trade your biggest star and powerplay weapon so you can pay a 2nd pair Dman and two 4th liners!

You would think we'd learn from the disaster known as the Teemu Selanne trade, but no....LAINE IS PROBLEM they said......watch him go to another team and score 50 goals.

I'd rather overpay a top 6 forward who's a lock for a 30 goals like Laine then overpay a guy like Lowry or Copp, overpaying elite goal scorers that fans buy tickets to watch is fine, choosing to overpay easy to replace 4th line plugs like Lowry instead of the biggest star you have in Laine makes you the laughing-stock of the league.
