would this be bad for Cozens development

Created by: Sabreshockey53
Team: 2020-21 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 28, 2020
Published: Nov. 28, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
By creating a great top 6 it makes the 3rd line weaker,
Girgenson is a good defensive forward who has speed and some puck skills, but Eakin is pretty bad but can be elevated when playing with good players. But this top 6 would be amazing.

Yeah - giving him the nino Niederreiter treatment. Isles buried him in the bottom 6 with Marty reasoner and jay pandolfo. He had 1 pt in 53 games.

The safest thing to do is

I don't think it would be that bad. But that's definitely a concern, Krueger is a weird guy his lines were horrible last season.

Make Cozens as 3rd line center and give him Skinner to play with and at the end of the season move as a 2nd line center

It’s pretty bad IMO - both girgensons and eakin are offensive blackholes.

Trotz is the same way. He’ll put prospects with 4th line grinders and scratch them when they don’t produce

NHL coaches drive me nuts with their lineup decisions.

For sure. Like what makes a coach give risto 20-24 min a game? He doesn’t pass the eye test and analytics are awful. Is it because of his work ethic ? Contract?

Trotz plays guys that shouldn’t be in the NHL , so I get it lol

Yeah, they won't cut Risto's ice time. Krueger loves him the only defenseman that played well with him was Pilut and he left for the KHL.

I wonder what makes coaches play certain guys. Jack Johnson, Ceci , Zaitsev shouldn’t be regulars in the NHL, yet their coaches love them and play them a lot.

it's a hard decision to make here...sabres fans are scarred by the way mittelstadt turned out when he was thrown onto the second line right away and we dont want that to happen to cozens, at all. but also, that was in mitts' DY+1 year and DC is already in his DY+2 year so the outcome of throwing him on the second line would be very different, and cozens is way more mature than casey is or will ever be. throwing cozens straight onto a line with the big dogs is kinda scary but playing him with eakin is even scarier. he needs to learn from a developed, veteran center and staal is just that. with all of that being said though, i say throw DC on the second line with skinner and staal and bump reinhart down to the third line to play with tage thompson and eakin, that gives the sabres 4 complete and competitive lines.

I agree. But I think Rieder will be in the lineup to help out the PK.
Hall-Eichel-Girgensons
Skinner-Staal-Cozens
Olofsson-Eakin-Reinhart
Rieder-Lazar-Okposo
I'm really hoping Ruotsalainen makes the team and maybe fills in the 3c spot.
