I think you could get yams at either longer term (5-7 years) for that cap hit or less money (3.5-4) for that term. I also think Hopkins will come in at less money and less term than that. I’m thinking 6.5-7 for 6-7 years

Signing RNH for that length of time and at that salary would be a big mistake imo. Oilers would be better using that money to upgrade their defense. Yes I realize that is not an easy thing to do in this day and age. You will never score enough goals to win a cup.

No it wouldn't be a mistake, signing RNH long term should be a top priority for the Oilers.

They're defense is fine and flush with quality D prospects as well, having a winger of RNH's caliber/quality that can seamlessly slide into center when needed is a luxury that most teams can only dream of and would be crazy to let go of, as a Jets fan you should know that.

Ideally you sign nudge to a 6.5 million cap hit. Nudge is the defensive conscience of the top lines, skates well and also doesn’t hurt the offence. Nudge is the second best shooter on the oilers. He is also smart so he is definitely worth it and he’s just coming into the best jockey he’s ever played. The idea is to also get these young defence they have currently in the system on 7 year 4.5 million dollar deals.
