I don't think that the NHL has the intestinal fortitude to risk declaring Klefbom exempt from the expansion draft in the summer of 2021, allowing Edmonton essentially to protect 4 defensemen instead of 3, and then see him take the ice three months later for the first game in the 2021-2022 season. I think that there will be some heavyweight conditions put on such a declaration.
