I don’t think it will be the case but I suspect jp signed for two years given the expansion draft and a deal is in place with Holland if he still wants out Holland will expose just don’t see it becoming a reality tho.

I believe gm and squad going to wrattle off five year plan, and rely on draft and build over all these large money large term contracts. Take picks to take on anything over 2 years of contract length and pick off a bunch of guys that have been developed but not quite reached there potential, gamble on the beans and fleurys of the game.

I totally get it, but I'd lean toward building a team in the mould of winning-now-and-developing-simultaneously.
I'm not quite sold on either Bean or Fleury tbh; I think Skjei's proven to have a solid ceiling.

Depending on how solid the original guys jobs are? If they swing and miss and face a full rebuild or retool without much success in year 3. They maybe looking for work

I don't think I understand your point. I don't think many of these selections are gambles.

Just Father Time and window to success with the picks. Albatross contracts when kraken kids need contracts. Ya I looked again at your build and your right other than that falk monster deal or maybe skajei, the rest the team can ride out the term. Just used to the Seattle builds with the burns, vanrymsdyk, and multiple other big term deals as if it’s a good thing for Seattle and they take them on willingly and without compensation.

Yes I totally agree with you, pundits suggesting picking Burns, JVR, Subban etc. with no picks is so silly.

Honestly, I could see the Isles exposing Eberle. Seems like a Lou thing to do. And then protect Clutterbuck.

In all seriousness, ideally we protect Barzal, Lee, Nelson, Beau, Eberle, Pageau and Bellows, expose Bailey and get Seattle to take him. Would hate to lose him for nothing, but we've got to shed cap space somehow. I have a feeling we're going to massively botch expansion, but we'll see

why do you think isles would expose eberle over Bailey? If they protect clutterbuck I will lose my mind

They're not gonna protect Clutterbuck lol....I hope....

Besides the discrepancy in the length of their tenures as Islanders, there is no good reason why we'd protect Bailey over Eberle. However, Eberle is a pretty boom or bust player and doesn't add much defensively. If they see that they're faced with a choice, maybe they take the more "reliable" of the two? Like I said, there's no good reason.

I’m pretty sure Seattle is building a solid analytics department. There is no chance they take bailey over eberle.

I get eberle is a frustrating player sometimes, but he provides a ton of value to the isles in terms of play driving. He’s also not terrible defensively. I’m not sure why people see bailey as more reliable...maybe it’s because he’s a more low event player? He doesn’t do anything better than eberle other than passing.

Eberle w/ barzal : 55% xGF%

Eberle w/o barzal: 52% xGF%

Barzal w/o eberle: 45% xGF%

I think there’s a chance eberle is taken if he’s exposed, but more likely it’s one of Aho/bellows/koivula. I’m sure all of their agents hope they get taken so they actually get a chance to play.

I agree with everything you just said lol. Maybe I'm being too pessimistic. I just hope he has another good year and doesn't give them any reason to dangle him.

you’re not being too pessimistic lol - after the moves they made this summer, nothing would surprise me.

Beau is going to get traded for two 2nd rd picks so they can keep bailey.
