Description
Signing Hoffman to a 1 year deal for relatively cheap for a 30 goal scorer seems like a no brainer to give the core another kick at the can. I think Smith on the second line makes the most sense. He's more of a power winger than Kase and will play more similar to Nathan Horton which is the winger Krejci had when he was at his best. Having 2 shoot first guys on the wing for Krejci is ideal for being the passer he is. I think Debrusk, Coyle and Kase are a line that can bring a ton of speed and skill and would be a huge mismatch for any other team's 3rd line or 3rd d pairing. Bjork might not be the ideal 4th line player but can fill in anywhere in the lineup when injuries or Covid hit (Studnicka could also be brought into the lineup). Ultimately, he could be flipped at the deadline for a rental d-man if the young options on defence don't work out. I personally think this forward group is one of, if not the deepest in the league.

More just unproven. I really doubt miller plays, but Clifton and lauzon have been pretty good in their NHL time. It’s whoever’s guess with zboril. Real good top three though.

Smith similar to Horton? He can shoot, he can pass, he can defend like Horton did but I wouldn't call his style of play similar: Horton is a power forward. Smith doesn't hit or isn't physical if you think that. Since you followed with "Having 2 shoot first guys on the wing for Krejci is ideal for being the passer he is", Kase can also shoot, he's a sniper. But I agree DeBrusk-Coyle-Kase would be a good line. IMO, wait and see how the D do because if you don't have a 2nd pair guy and two meh D on the third pair, it might be an issue, unlike the forward group who is already great.

The right side is good, left side is one of the weakest in the NHL tbh.

At the moment, sure. Hopefully one of the first rounders holds their own and becomes a player. There hasnt been much opportunity in past years between Chara, Gryz, Krug.

I know it’s been a really really long time since you’ve seen a good team night in, and night out. Fortunately, the same can’t be said for me. He’s a real good player. Was easily the bruins best LD at 5 on 5 last year. There’s a reason they let krug walk.

Or maybe it’s that I’ve seen him play more than three games, and know more than, “oh. He isn’t big.”
