Replace Wahlstrom with Holmstrom and I think NYI bites.

I doubt CGY does it though - if they’re trading geaudrau they should be getting a high end C prospect in return.

They're most likely losing Gaudreau anyway. Better make something of it before he leaves.

If I were CGY, I'd want to replace Bailey with Nelson for instance. That'd bring them a solid long-term center. Nelson+Holmstrom+1st for Gaudreau isn't too shabby in my opinion.

Don’t see the isles giving Nelson up C prospects aren’t good enough outside of koivula who prolly takes Cizikas role instead anyways.. if any forwards get moved it’s gonna be bailey or eberle imo

Consider me surprised if that happens.

He'd be a primary asset in free agency, and his role in CGY is getting smaller after Tkachuk's emergence.

Tkachuk and Gaudreau are completely different players, that's like saying Malkin should have walked because his roll in Pittsburgh was smaller than it would be elsewhere due to Crosby.

There is a chance that Gaudreau walks but all signs point to him loving Calgary and the organization.

I mean Malkin probably would have left had Pens not been successful during his first contract. Not the case with the Flames, they seem to be constantly melting down when it matters.

Also pretty much all professional athletes are giving this kind of picture to the media of their affairs with their team until something crashes down. Whether it's something happening on the ice, in the locker room or off the ice completely.

No there is a difference, players will generally dodge the topic when they have uncertainty Gaudreau gets irritated and denies it, he has publicly said how much he loves Calgary, sees it as a 2nd home and that he could definitely see himself playing his entire career there.
The point I am making is that your statement on him "most likely leaving" is pure speculation with no legitimate framework behind it.

Well there is the Francis article from August, but I digress. It's a bit early to discuss on it. But if I were Treliving I'd certainly check all my options.

He certainly won't be traded this offseason, no chance of that. Besides Tre would be asking for nothing less than what COL got for Duchene. If Gaudreau is traded it is after another early playoff exit (assuming it's not a loss due to injuries).
