Do you think you guys would sign Hoffman given the chance? He would slot well on that second with Getzlaf. Flip him at the deadline if you want some picks, if he does good.

On paper I think if Hoffman is available on Jan13th the ducks should go after him. They have to wait to put Kesler on LTIR to get full relief but like you said Hoffman would be a major add to this team that needs goals and need a better PP. If they do sign him I doubt they trade him as the 4seed out west is wide open and they’ll probably be in contention for it.

Yah I 100% agree and I forgot how different the divisions are and after the 3 good teams there is nobody that is good.

Not a chance. We can't offer him the most money, don't have the money available (just because we CAN put Kesler on long-term IR doesn't mean ownership wants to pay that extra money in a year when they have cut a huge check to cover this seasons' losses) and we're one on the worst teams in the league. He's holding out for the best deal possible or the best team or both. It's a miracle Murray convinced someone like Shattenkirk to sign here for a reasonable deal.

I was thinking because the season is about to start and the good teams don’t have a ton, so he may have to sign a cheep 1 year deal with a bad team like the Ducks, or Sharks, Senators, Red Wings, Kings etc. If he wants to play.

But it's not like good teams don't want him. I'm sure he's haggling for the best deal and will take it once push comes to shove. But to slum it with a bottom-feeder for one year will only hurt his chances at cashing in next summer. Though to be fair, I think he'd make the Ducks a lot better and I'm not sold that we're going to be as bad as everyone thinks we'll be but that's a big leap of faith for a guy who wants to contend, I'm sure.
