Kucherov to IR

Created by: Rangsey
Team: 2020-21 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 21, 2020
Published: Dec. 21, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Well. This changes things a little. Tampa isn't going to do anything until after the season starts.

Friedman
"TB's cap issues may be solved by LTIR. There is word Nikita Kucherov is battling an injury that may keep him out awhile. No comment from team/agent, so details are sketchy -- but clarity expected this week. If unable to play (unfortunately), it will clear room for the Lightning."

And when he's healthy they will be even more desperate to clear space. Yzerman put them in such a bad cap situation.

Well yes, we all know its just kicking the can further down the road, however a lot of things can change in that time

Yeah Yzerman did such a terrible job building this Tampa team. How could he not predict covid and a flat cap 4 years ago? His excellent drafting, shrewd trades and getting his own players locked up to below market value contracts have really crippled this franchise. Yzerman had nothing to do with Tampa winning the Cup. I just hope JBB can somehow undo the damage Yzerman has inflicted.

I dunno how much Kudos I give Stevie Y for the drafting since Al Murray has so much control over scouting. But you're right.

Did Al Murray trade for Ben Bishop, Ryan McDonagh or Sergachev? Did he sign Tyler Johnson as an undrafted Free agent? Did he acquire a first round pick from Ken Holland which turned into Vasilevskiy? Does the GM not have the final call when it comes to drafting players? It's funny how Tampa fans don't want to credit Yzerman for anything now that he's no longer Tampa GM. But when he was the Tampa GM he was viewed as a living God. Now he's a convenient scapegoat for Tampa's Cap mess. We hated winning a Cup! That damn Steve Yzerman! How dare he! Cheer for the laundry.

Fair, I was more talking about the praise he got for cap management. He was bad at that.

Bro. Chill. I said you're right. Stevie Y did a masterful job with Tampa. His trade negotiations were amazing and I will sing his praises until the end of my days.

I'm just saying, with the drafting/scouting Al Murray doesn't get enough credit.

I'm not directing this at you. It's a general statement. You'd think Yzerman ruined Tampa with the comments these days. How quickly bandwagon fans forget.

Oh yeah. 100%
Stevie Y: gives the Tampa we know to Tampa fans.
Tampa Fans: "Yeah.... But what have you done for us lately"
Theres also other fanbase who wanna declare the Tampa widow closed because they have to navigate a few contacts. Like Kuch, Point, Hedman are suddenly terrible players and if Tampa loses Cirelli they're doomed. The internet is a fun place these days unsure

It's wishful thinking. Fans want to see Tampa burn but it's not happening. They'll likely win another Cup this season.
