Description

CBJ targetted marner in the summer of 2019, they clearly like the player and have domi to play 1c and they have the cap room for marner, leafs get dubois and a defenseman to play shutdown minutes, leafs get a 3rd cuz marner is by far the best player going the other way.

but if they dont want to pay Dubois what he thinks hes worth, why would they take a 10+ mill Marner in a trade

I assume he’ll wind up with a better contract. Tough not to. I value being able to play wing and center, and i prefer his style of game. I think he has far higher potential than marner.
