Danault is not a top line center. More of a top 3rd line center. Serviceable 2nd. Swap Kulak for a 2nd or a prospect if similar value and you have hit the value.

CBJ declines though. PLD may want out. But he’s signed. No leverage to force a trade. They don’t have to move him. And CBJ would get better offers if they put him on the market.

Caufield is our future and with the cap and Seattle draft , so Montreal might get rid of Tatar or armia because they have to be able to afford to sign them.

Fyi, as per Dom Luszczyszyn's model, Danault's (1.9) and PLD's (2.2) projected wins value are very much comparable, and both land into top line C category. True, Danault's points totals are underwhelming, but that says a lot about his defensive acumen.

Ya but top line centers are about driving the offense. Danault does not. The front office has spent 3 years trying to upgrade top 6 center because they know he isn’t. Despite what he thinks and teams fans want to think. Great player. Probably the best 3rd center in the league. Can get by as 2 but it’s not ideal.

Dom has put tremendous effort to come forth with an unbiased model to assess players value. With all due respect, I'll stick with his opinion.

Feel free to. Does not change that fact that this is not good for CBJ given their roster.

If they had a legit #1 center this would make some sense. Their top 6 centers after this move....Danault and Domi. Hmmm. Tell us....how did that work out? Of all fan bases that should understand that.....

CBJ is already offensively challenged. This makes them even worse.

So why does it make sense for them to when they don’t have to?

One thing for sure....Torts would love Danault.
