You say they will be much deeper but they already have more than enough top 6 forwards. More than enough top 4 d prospects, a high end top 2 c prospect, and have a first rounder.
Meanwhile, they don’t have another potential 50 goal scorer.

Additionally, they jets aren’t getting any younger, they don’t want prospects, they want peices that will help them win now.

Start with Jarvis/necas and pesce and we might talk. If I’m GM, I’m giving laine the money he wants though to keep him. The fan base, team, and even coaching staff likes him. Just give him the moola $$

Laine just doesnt work now or in 21-22 with our cap and players.

If Laine wants out then he will eventually get his way. They need to set up a future dynasty and I dont see that happening with Laine gone and a bad defense. Take the prospects and start again in 2-3 years

Either way, if we do move laine, as I said, it won’t be for future peices. We would need to fill holes now. This team can still contend without him imo. If they make the defence decent, this top 6 is still great without laine. Not elite anymore but it’s still good

They would need a horse on the blue line, a winger who can replace him and a Legit 2C. I dont see them getting that in a trade. If you wanna just make the playoffs and not do damage that could be accomplished in a more "win now trade" but I say swing for the fences and go for high upside prospects who can help you (on the cheap) in 2 years
