Take out Savard

Dubois and Laine are pretty equal IMO but even though Dubois is better now I would give Laine the slight edge based off potential. Roslovic has top six center upside and at the very least can be an affective middle six winger, therefore I think Colombus has to through in a defenseman and I don't think Savard will be back next year so that's why it's him

I souldnt put Laine above Dubois. Hes a one tool player (for some reason there's a narrative that he's good on D now which is completely untrue) and CBJ needs Dubois more than WPG needs Laine. PLD for Laine and Roslo is fair in value but I personally wouldn't do it

Is that one tool, offense? No, he will never be a 200' guy like Mark Stone but as long as he back checks like a good offensive guy should, that's all that is needed....and that is what he does.

So yah, he is a one tool guy like most wingers. Not many are like Mark Stone

Not sure why ppl think that he only can shoot. His passing is even better imo...but as some passers cant shoot, he does that too. Last year he took a few more steps forward and showed teams that he can do both very well. I would not be surprised to see him with a 30/30 season if he is healthy

So, I guess using your evalution method Dubois has no skills? Laine has twice as many goals and 1.5 times as many points.

No, I'm saying Laine only good tool is shooting. PLD is much more complete. Hes a great playmaker, playdriver, shooter, defense

He can't be as good a playmaker, shooter or play driver as Laine though, since Laine has outscored him by such a drastic margin. Maybe if you had some actual stats that prove some of the stuff you're saying, people might believe you. Right now it just sounds like biased sour grapes by someone that hasn't seen Laine play.

Maybe the countless advanced stats that show Laine is only a good shooter and thats it? Saying Dubois isn't as good because of points is just hilariously stupid. Systems and context matter

Dubois also hasn't had the chance to play with Ehlers, Scheifele, Connor and Wheeler. Hes got to play with Panarin...when he was 20. Also... again... CBJ needs Dubois more than WPG needs Laine.

So, if systems and context matter, then I guess it works the same way for Laine as well. Laine has never got to play for a defense only coach like Tortorella, so that kind of evens them out again.

Laine just outscores Dubois by such an enormous amount that it far outweighs slight defensive advanced stat advantages that Dubois might have. Defense like Dubois plays is easily taught, scoring like Laine does can't be taught and is far more valuable.
