I mean, I certainly think he's an OK asset, but having this space will allow them to potentially add at the deadline without any wild & wacky roster moves.

We didn't keep Juulsen on the NHL roster because he needs to play games. He's not going to develop by sitting on the bench.

Unfortunately he one of those guys who prone to injuries. Maybe if wasn’t picked up on waivers they could of got a late round draft pick.

They knew there was a chance he could get claimed. Between losing him for nothing or developing him with the big club, the choice is obvious...

They must think he will not make it as an NHLer. If he does have an NHL career, this will be another first round pick "gaffe" by the GM...

He needs to play games in the AHL. He's barely played in 2 years and isn't going to get better by sitting on the bench. It's that simple.

I hear you, I am just saying that their decision outcomed to the habs losing him... Are the habs a better team without him as an eventual asset ?

Adding to this^

Putting him on waivers now was the best timing to improve his chances to go through unclaimed. Teams on full roster, caps maxed out, low number of injuries and the longest list of waived players ever...

If the scout who worked to draft him for Montreal wasn't working for FLA now, he wouldn’t have been claimed...

Keeping him on the bench for some games and sending him down to the AHL later would had been even more risky.

Because of his injuries in the past 2 years, he's not really worth anything so it's not like Montreal lost a valuable asset. Our NHL team is not worse off without him, but our AHL team definitely is.

I guess it all comes down to that famous "taking a chance"... Hindsight is 20/20 right?

But still, Bergevin has a huge team with him to prevent him from making these sort of "errors".

I just have a hard time understanding why they thought losing him for nothing was better than keeping him with the club.

The amount of work and developpement invested in him for the last 5.5 years has all just gone up in smoke !

It's very simple. Juulsen is not going to develop sitting on the bench. It's just a waste of a contract spot if he's not playing games as he's been away for nearly 2 years.

I don’t know why you cant understand Juulsen needed to be sent down to play after 2 years being injured. Keeping him in Montreal eating popcorn in the stands wouldn't have helped his development.
