My Take On Roslovic

Description
This is based purely on hockey reference and not any actual game film. What I see is an offensive winger that hasn't produced greatly at the NHL level. He has the majority of his zone starts in the offensive zone(56%), which causes him to have positive corsi relative in his 2 full seasons. Honestly not sure why Pittsburgh is interested in him. The only thing I can think of is if he is a speedy guy that could look good on the wing in the top 6. I don't believe he will be very useful in a bottom six role. I would only move POJ and a depth forward for him.

i wouldn't even move POJ for him imo, maybe like a 2nd or a 3rd and 4th, but idk if the Jets say yes

My thing is that I don't believe POJ will be an NHL defenseman, and certainly don't believe he will be in Pittsburgh based on their current defense. Because of that I value him more towards a 4th rounder while others value him around a 2nd rounder.

Jets should decline this, already have too many LHD prospects as it is, don't need anymore.

Think he can add a lot of depth in our top-9. 71 games played last year and was 12-17-29. Decent numbers for a player who played 3rd line minutes. Also just about to turn 24, so age is still on his side. Haven't really watched him to know his overall game though.

Apparently the Jets wanted a top 4 Dman for him in the offseason? Id say a roster player and 3rd rounder is fair.

I would agree that his offense isn't bad(29 pts in 71 gms with around 15 mins avg TOI), but he started the majority of his shifts in the offensive zone. And traditionally, our bottom six plays more of a defensive role. Our third line is a shutdown line right now, I don't see the harm in leaving it as is for now and I doubt he would want to play 4th line minutes.

3rd line has been playing really well offensively for us. Think he would be a nice fit with McCann & Jano. How is Roslovic two way game?

Roslovic is a skilled player that’s been jammed up by Jets coach Paul Maurice. He had a killer year in the AHL playing C, and when he came up, Maurice plugged him onto 3RW with two guys who can’t score to save their lives. I think his numbers and stats are deceiving. He realistically probably should be a 2RW right now, but with Jets stacked on the wing and maurices reluctance to play him at C. He never got a fair opportunity. He’s been played with Lowry and copp like his whole career, and they are the biggest stone hands I’ve ever seen. Their line also usually plays against the top line of the other team. Roslovic has a really good two way game, while also being an offensive threat with untapped offensive potential.

In 180 career games, he has a 44.8% faceoff win percentage. That is quite awful. He also starts the majority of his shifts in the offensive zone. Linemates could be a valid argument as I do not know the Jets roster as well as others but he has been used in an offensive role for the most part.

Yes they have been but they also shut Philly down too. Don't have the numbers but they were dominant possession wise.

He’s hardly had a chance to really put the work in at C. When he was there in the AHL, he was really good and looked like he could be a 2C down the road. If you give someone time to put the work in and learn, they improve. But why would he spend his time learning to play C when the coach would never play him there?? Trust me if you watched Jets games you’d see past his numbers and stats. A lot of his misfortune comes from the position he’s in.
