I get what you are trying to do but PLD is not worth what you propose. I think he has the potential to surpass Monahan and become a true #1 C. However, he hasn't yet. Both are on similar career stats at PLD age. Savard is also a cap dump which should bring down the proposal. I think Monahan and possibly a 1st (as I said you'd have to overpay), preferably a 2nd is the most Calgary should pay. Somebody will way over pay hopefully not Calgary.

Overpay, take out Savard and Dube then make the 2nd a 3rd in 2022, its still a better return than what ROR got for Buffalo

I don’t think Calgary can afford to trade Dube or Pelletier, we desperately need ELCs/cheap bridge deals for the next couple years. Plus CBJ wants it to be a hockey trade and Ryan isn’t a cap dump

Savard is still pretty useful imo, this is for sure an overpay. I think Calgary is happy with their current NHL roster and they should be.

Fair comparable but I see CBJ having a bit more leverage with a steady Kekalainen at the helm over an inept Botterill

Ryan just cleared waivers, if teams wanted him they could have taken him for 0 asset costs. To me he is a cap dump. Good player but making double what he really should be.

There are other examples, Matt Duchene was definitely on the extreme side, Brayden Schenn comes to mind as well. Dougie Hamilton got a 1st and 2 2nds after a 42 point season at the same age
