Very bias here. Plek isn't worth $6M. Emilin's not in the category of great player. I can't explain Duclair's drop this year, but ask this question last year and he's head and shoulders above any single playing in this trade. Hanzal's just a rental.

Habs27, I'm a die hard Habs fan. I would do this trade in a heart beat. Although i would want some assurances that Hanzal was willing to sign with us as free agent first. If not then I wouldn't do this trade.

We Habs fans overrate our prospects like every other team's fans do. McCarron is not a top prospect. He's good but he'll end up being a Brian Boyle more then anything. Not an Eric Lindros. Noah Juulsen has one factor that makes him more attractive in value then otherwise. He's a RH shot. Teams are looking for RH dman like crazy so if he pans out then his value could be pretty decent but he is by no means a guaranteed top 4 dman. So he isn't a top prospect either.

Fucale has ZERO value in trade right now. Zero! He's been getting worse and worse every year since being drafted and we're not the only ones to notice this. I wanted him to be good so bad but its becoming painfully obvious that he was carried to his fame by having stud teams in front of him. Halifax and Team Canada.

Plekanec and Emelin bring down this trade value for the Habs, you do realize that right? Meaning if you take them out of this trade, Arizona would be more inclined to make this trade. its not to say they are bad players. Just the salary doesn't fit the calibre of performance they give you presently. They would prefer to have the cap space so they could spend that money on players they actually do want.

Plekanec's 6M and Emelin's 4.2M makes for 1/7th of MTL's salary cap. Let that sink in for a sec.

Duclair is in a major slump and his value is at an all time low. No doubt. But does anyone here think that if he were traded to Chicago and played on a line with Toews and Hossa that he wouldn't score 20+ goals? I didn't think so. People are forgetting that Arizona is one of the worst teams in the league this year and for a couple years now. You can't expect miracles from their good players. Duclair is only 22. What are the odds that he'll get better with age? Pretty god damn high.

Hanzal is one of those players that hasn't put big numbers but if you watch him play and study his attributes, you'll see that he is a prisoner of circumstance. Arizona sucks. Hanzal does his bets with what he's got and that hasn't been much over the years. If he was playing in MTL the past 5 years he'd be scoring 50+ pts a year. He's a big center capable of playing top line center minutes, wins faceoffs, has a mean streak and can score some points. I think you need to reevaluate your definition of Sh*tty.

Goligoski is not exactly what the Habs are looking for but if MTL includes Emelin and Plekanec in this deal then I am all for making this deal. He's a minute munching dman that can play with Weber. What happens when Emelin starts playing 22+ minutes? He gets exposed. What happens when Markov starts playing big minutes? He gets exposed. Beaulieu? Aside from the occasional game can't make the top 4 currently. Goligoski comes in and plays 24+ mins with Weber and can actually skate with the puck which is something Weber needs his partner to be able to do.

We as commentators on this site need to stop overreacting to trades where our team is winning a trade value wise and they're complaining about being taking advantage of. At the very least this trade is fair just to give you an idea. Terrible? In reality, maybe slightly for Arizona but not for MTL. that's just being honest even if the Habs are my fav team.
