Heard a radio segment on TSN 1260 yesterday and there was a debate on whether Nurse is close to becoming a number 1 defenseman and a top 15 Dman in the league. Jason Gregor said yes while Jason Strudwick said no. I agree with Strudwick as I think all the guys listed here are better and I would trade Nurse for any day (except a handful of the older guys as it wouldn't fit with Edmonton's timeline). This puts Nurse at the lower end of the Top 30. The only ones I wouldnt trade Nurse for are probably Weber (age and contract), and probably Karlsson and Doughty just based on their contracts which would be near impossible to fit under the cap. Thoughts? Is Nurse close to being a number 1? I personally think his ceiling is a good 2 way number 2 D.

Umm you said he wasn't a top 10. Why are you changing your narrative all of the sudden? It's fine if you think he's overrated. You're entitled to your opinion but don't start a debate with statements that have no merit especially when you don't watch the Oilers. Oilers would be Ottawa level bad without McDavid? Really? Based on what? Their prospect pool is terrible ? It's actually very very good and they have a stable of players who project really well. But you wouldn't know that because you just posted without actually putting in some thought behind it.

This is the same thing Oiler fans say every year and yet besides Bear and Klefbom you haven't had one draft pick do anything who wasn't drafted in the first round. As for my thoughts on Draisaitl, yes I am changing my mind, I think he's probably a top 10 centre but not a top 5 player, not even close to that. In the top 50 for sure. To be a top 5 player he needs to be much better at defence.

I don't know where I would rate him, there are some defenceman and some wingers I think are better than he is. Probably top 20 players league wide.
