Canada has more than enough good C options, but not as many LW options. Replacing RNH with a to-be 36 year old pure center won't fix that.
Agree with you on Hamilton>Doughty.

There are a good amount of forwards that "deserve" it more than Hopkins

put bergy on crosbys right with marchand and hed be of much better use than rnh would be anywhere in the lineup imo

10 Canadian forwards had better numbers than RNH last year, nine of them are already on the team, the other doesn't play LW.
If by "a good amount," you mean 1, I guess you're right

Position is irrelevant here because Canada has way too many Cs. Some are bound to play out of position. Might as well stick someone better than RNH there.

That line did well at the 2016 WCH but again, dude's gonna be 36. Crosby will be 35 but he's a generational talent so kind of an exception. Including Bergeron is no different than including Getzlaf, Perry, Toews or any of the other declining forwards from 2014. RNH being 7 years younger alone makes him more useful imo.

True, but other than maybe Konecny, Tavares, and O'Reilly, there aren't too many fairly young forwards better than RNH that come to mind. At that point, my personal preference is just Nuge.

"Issue" (if I could say) with Doughty is that there are too many options. But great to see you replaced him with a guy who "deserved" it.

Not really, Perry is a 4th liner, Getzlaf is a middle-six C and Toews's defensive game has regressed. Bergeron is still elite all-around and it's unlikely he regresses to the point of not making the team in only one year. He IS different than those guys. RNH is an option but not more than that. By the way, Couturier is more than likely to be on the team.

But I see you're an EDM fan and this is based on your personal preference. Overall, the team is similar to the one we'll see in 12 months.

Yea, I guess I can see the case for Bergeron. Consistent Selke contention in your mid-30s is pretty impressive. Since the team will carry a few more than 12 FWDs, I'd say RNH still has a decent shot at being one of the extras but we'll see I guess.
