EJ probably wont waive but fair trade
Brink or the 1st and no Braun / So 1st + something ok or Brink + something ok vs Rackell
Deslauriers fair trade
IDK if JS is worth a 1st, maybe a pair of 2nd

Johnson's M-NTC involves 19 teams he CAN be traded to, so basically just 10 teams he can't be traded to. So if you rule out the obvious - 7 Canadian teams, along with probably Buffalo, Columbus, and maybe New Jersey, that still leaves a lot of options, including Anaheim.

Seeing that he breeds horses in California I doubt he'd have an issue with going to Anaheim. It's just a question of whether or not Anaheim would want to take on that contract.

As for the trade itself, if Avs retain $1.5m and take on Shattenkirk's $3.9m, they'd effectively just be swapping Johnson at $6m for Shattenkirk at $5.4m. That really isn't enough cap savings to make it worth moving one of the teams leaders out, especially for a 3rd + prospect. Johnson is also a much better fit style wise than Shattenkirk on the 3rd pairing, and Avs have no real use for yet another PMD when they're already loaded with Toews-Makar-Girard-Byram-Timmins. Speaking of which, acquiring Shattenkirk does Timmins' NHL chances zero favours either.

My bad didn’t saw COL was retaining
COL shouldn’t be retaining any money, and getting EJ out would be more easy for the expansion draft ( in case he doesn’t want to waive ). You could flip Shattenkirk if you want to, it was more to getting ‘’rid’’ of EJ

I'd say the Avs decline. EJ is a horse. Shattenkirk is more of what the Avs already have and they moved on from him a long time ago.
