I don’t doubt that Lafreniere has the talent to develop into a superstar, but he needs to have the opportunity to do so. He’s not getting a chance in NYR so they may as well trade him for other areas of need.

He is going to get that chance... Kreider won't spend the next 4 years on the top line... You also don't know that they are likely going to try him at C in the next year or 2. Not every player comes into the league scoring 4 goals like matthews.. this is just a bad take and moving him without getting a legit 1C would be a massive mistake let alone bringing a return of Sandin... Just a hot take my friend..

Lol people wonder why everyone thinks Leafs fans are absolute jokes.

Trying to get the most hyped 1oa pick since McDavid for Rasmus freaking Sandin.

Absolutely embarrassing.

Not a leafs fan. Thanks for showing your bias against them... absolutely embarrassing...

Well even if Lafreniere replaces Kreider, you have a 6.5 Million dollar LW playing on the third line which doesn’t make sense to me.

Fortunately it doesn't need to make sense to you or I as we aren't the GM or coach.. Off the top of my head, MTL has a 6m player on the 3rd line, in face their top 3 LW all make that kinda $.. in 4 years the cap will be closer to 90M which makes his wage irrelevant and he can be traded if need be in 3 more seasons. I'm sure there's a few other teams that may have higher $ contracts on other lines. He is 29 and plays physical so dropping him down to 3rd line and 1PP might actually help his body last longer in the NHL too. These are just a few things that don't need to make sense to you or I since we aren't setting lines or signing contracts but it doesn't mean they wouldn't actually make sense. Also he is the last remaining player from our cup runs team that could be very useful in the locker room and come playoff time.
