I tried making a good OEL trade for all parties involved

Created by: benkel
Team: 2020-21 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 16, 2021
Published: Feb. 16, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It's next to impossible. :(

Vancouver took themselves out of the OEL sweepstakes, once they traded for nate schmidt.

If he's smart, OEL would expand the list of teams he'd waive his NMC for, not just Vancouver and Boston.

If he's smart, he'd make it easier to abandon ship before it sinks.
Trades
ARI

  2. Moore, John
  3. 2021 1st round pick (BOS)

Boston is not giving up that much. You are vastly underestimating Grzelcyk.
I just don't think they want him that much.

I know. I tried to sweeten the pot with two seconds but I don't think it's enough.

Just doesnt really make sense for BOS. They lose a quality top 4 LHD, in order to bring in an older and way more expensive one. And they give up the most valuable pick to make sure salary works. Just doesnt add up.

I just don’t think the bruins want him at all.

Not to mention it doesn’t really make sense to move grzelcyk, their best LD, to address the LD.

What would you give up for OEL?

I'm not a fan of Arizona. Never have been.

Just curious.

If Boston kept Grzelcyk, would OEL be more appetizing?

What if Boston kept Grzelcyk, could an OEL trade still work?

I don't watch the Bruins much.

No. His contract is bad. Zero interest without significant retention. Not trying to be a negative Nancy, but if i was in charge i wouldn’t claim him off waivers.

Have to admit, i expected it to be ridiculous as most OEL to Boston trades are. But this was an interesting new take.

Does not cut payroll for Zona which was the whole point of moving him.

Interesting concept though.

Retain more of the contract (a lot more) and bruins MIGHT think about it. But bruins havent gotten to where they are by taking bad contracts (Backes is the worst one in a while I believe aside from Mark Savard but that was its own problem lol)
