Description
The Ehlers deal was scary to do, it would be a huge move. I like Broberg and i know you should have prospects in your pool that are good, but this team has focused on the future enough. We need to win now and acquiring Ehlers helps us a great deal in that, perfect fit with McDavid and lets us use the DRY line and still give McDavid more then enough to work with.

Depth: Kahun, Ennis, are good, hard workers who would be ncie depth for us. I brought Caggiula back as well because he's got speed and could bounce off of Ennis' energy well.

Defence: Basically a hailmary on defence. We bring in arguably the biggest fish in the FA market in Hamilton. Hamilton's got size and good awareness and is an amazing D man that could change the look of this D core all together while giving our young guys someone to learn off of. Having him with Klefbom would be a dream. Thats really it for Defense. Klefbom and Nurse are top 4 easily and having Lagesson and Jones be able to rotate gives us good 3rd pairing depth. Also Bear and Bouchard will be full timers, as they are ready as of right now. But i brought back Larsson a cheap deal just in case one of them struggles or gets injured. It's better to stick with the Devil you know rather the one you don't.

Goaltending: Here we brought in Tuuka Rask. Rask has always been a solid goalie. He can compete in playoffs and knows what it takes to win and has experienced the pressure. As for the backup goalie i brought in Brian Elliot. He's an older goalie who has proven to be a solid backup for PHI alongside Carter Hart.

McDavid and Draisaitl want to win and with this team I feel they go a level that we still haven't seen yet, the time to win is now

I don't know...I think the value is there for Winnipeg to move Ehlers in that deal, but I wonder if good LD prospect is really what they need in an Ehlers deal? They've got Morrisey, Heinola, Samberg and Stanley all on that side.

I also doubt they'd move him now that Laine is gone. Suddenly you go from a super strong set of wingers in your top 6 to Connor, Wheeler, ?, ?.

It just seems like a very dangerous move for Winnipeg.

Oilers can’t move broberg without certainty klef will return healthier than ever which is obviously doubtful.
Making deals with money only going one way is going to be insanely difficult maybe moving kass is possible but kosk will be much harder just due to the position and available options in free agency. Teams would sooner sign a guy than make a trade. Russell’s cap hit drops significantly next year he would be nice to have as a 7th d capable of covering injuries just don’t see a need to move him. Larsson will get at the very least 3x that contract deservingly so. Hamilton would be nice but I wouldn’t want to see such an investment on the back end really handcuffs options moving forward. Interesting targets for goaltending

Dougie Hamilton isn't wasting his time with a 3 year deal, he'd easily get 7 years on the open market with slightly more AAV as well. And Ryan Nugent-Hopkins gets more money as well he'd be well sought out on the open market and he know's that.

Yeah, I just don’t think a deal exists right now where they move Ehlers. He’s too important atm

The players they have on the right side of the defense are fine. The left side is weak but not for much longer if you keep Broberg and samorukov around. FYI Bouchard is the next Dougie Hamilton just so you know we don't need to go out and overpay for another. There is no reason to go out and trade for ehlers until they strike out on free agency with guys like Mike hoffman and Tomas Tatar.
