Even if it's a top 5 or top 10 pick, trading for Skinner right now would be shooting yourself in the foot for any GM.

Yeah true, but the Sens just **** the bed this past off season with a some poop moves when they could have moved for guys like Nate Schmidt, devon Toews, Ryan Murray and others - but instead land stepan and someone moved a 2nd rounder to get him etc etc.

Skinner is not terrible, not worth the contract by any means - but given how little they spend to get a 1st and player that can play top 6 may have have been worth the risk.
