Deadline moves

Initial Creation Date: Mar. 5, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Let me know if I'm off. Maybe a slightly better prospect in the Anaheim deal? Or extra draft pick?
Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Rakell, Rickard ($1,894,722 retained)
Additional Details:
1.5 years for a really good (and cheap) top 6 winger. He is having a down year but throw him in Torontos top 6 and I'm sure that will change.
ANA
  1. Abramov, Mikhail
  2. Kerfoot, Alexander
  3. 2021 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Kerfoot is just a player. He would probably play wing top 9 for Anaheim. Decent, just no spot for him on TOs roster at this point. Arbramov is a very underrated prospect. Great so far in juniors and made the Russian junior team. Probably a B/B- prospect. 1st round pick is the main piece as it should be.
2.
TOR
  1. Ryan, Derek ($1,562,500 retained)
Additional Details:
Good 3/4 defensive C. Good face-off guy, can play PK. Sort of what toronto wanted out of Kerfoot this year. He has really fallen out of favor in Calgary (waived twice) this only happens if Calgary is totally out of the playoff picture. Just in case Engvall does not work out.
CGY
  1. Barabanov, Alexander
  2. 2022 5th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Roster player and a mid pick for a playoff rental.

Consider we don’t need another center, I’d be instantly declining.

HOWEVER...

Abramov and a 1st makes the trade very fair taking Kerfoot with it. I think the value is very good and think this could benefit both sides.

ryan hasn’t fallen out of favour at all lol, he was only waived because nobody’s claiming a bottom six centre making 3.125 mil in this climate so it saves us a few bucks on off days being able to keep him on the taxi squad

Well considering this is a 3/4th line guy I don't believe so. This would be a deadline deal so they would be owing him basically nothing. Retaining 50% on a deal is standard practice for rentals. It would only drive up the price if this was a player on a multi year deal (ie Rakell).

Alright I guess I could be wrong especially with the new coach loving guys like this. But he has only played 11 games this season so I can't see him being highly valued. Like I said in the post, this would only happen if Calgary really falls out of it. I still believe that Calgary should be a top 4 team in the division but only time will tell.

He's been injured for the last few weeks, he hasn't missed a game when healthy. He's a lineup regular, not a fringe guy.
